About Us

On West 52nd Street, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue, the Neil Simon Theatre has been drawing audiences from across the country, and across the world, since it opened its doors in 1927. Rated 4.7 stars across nearly 7,000 reviews, it earns that praise the old-fashioned way: immaculate housekeeping, attentive ushers who actually know their jobs, and sight lines that make even a mid-orchestra seat feel like a front-row privilege.

Right now the theatre is home to MJ The Musical, a full-throttle celebration of Michael Jackson's music and artistry that reviewers call "phenomenal" and "thrilling." The singing, the dancing, the energy from the cast land differently in a room this size, roughly 1,300 seats arranged so the balcony never feels miles away. Families traveling from out of state consistently note how organized the experience feels from lobby to curtain call.

The Neil Simon name carries weight in this business. The playwright himself won four Tony Awards, and the theatre that bears his name has hosted productions that shaped American popular culture. Catching a show here is not just an evening out; it is a specific, dated, this-city thing that you will still be talking about at the airport gate on the way home.

What We Offer

The Neil Simon Theatre seats approximately 1,300 guests across orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony levels, with accessible seating available throughout the house. Tickets can be purchased through the official Broadway Direct venue page or through licensed box-office partners, and the weekday lottery program gives spontaneous theatergoers a real shot at discounted seats, as more than one reviewer discovered firsthand.

Group sales, premium seating packages, and gift tickets are available for corporate events, birthday celebrations, school trips, and tourist itineraries. The Broadway lottery runs for select performances and is one of the most talked-about ways to experience the theatre at an accessible price point. Pre-show dining options line the surrounding Hell's Kitchen and Theatre District blocks, making it easy to build a full evening around the curtain time.

For visitors coming in from outside New York City, the theatre sits steps from the 50th Street subway station on the C and E lines, and within walking distance of dozens of Midtown hotels. The box office staff and front-of-house team are consistently praised for keeping operations smooth, even on sold-out Saturday nights.

"I went to the Neil Simon Theatre because it’s literally on the same street where my husband works, so I decided to try the weekday lottery for the first time… and ended up winning tickets to MJ The Musical. It wasn’t even at the top of my must-see list, but it completely surprised me. The storytelling, choreography, and transitions are incredibly well executed. The way they weave the script with the chronology of the songs feels seamless, constantly moving between past and present with a smoothness that’s hard to describe but really impressive to experience live. Nothing feels forced or slow, it flows effortlessly from start to finish. At times, it genuinely feels like you’re at a Michael Jackson concert. What stood out the most is how universal and accessible the show is. It’s very family friendly without feeling childish. You can bring your parents, even if they don’t speak English, and they’ll still enjoy it. I saw entire families vibing together, almost dancing in sync to the music. That ability to cut across generations feels special and rare on Broadway. The pacing is perfect, it never drags, and it lasts exactly as long as it needs to. I also got great lottery seats, which made the experience even better. Honestly, it exceeded my expectations by a lot and turned into one of those shows I didn’t plan to love, but walked out of genuinely impressed."

"I came to watch MJ The Musical at the Neil Simon Theatre and it was honestly phenomenal; from set to the material, the entire show was amazing! It was my first Broadway show and honestly it did not disappoint. I got a last minute seat in the Mid Mezzanine and honestly it was not too bad despite not wearing my glasses."

"We went to watch MJ - now obviously while the show is on you cannot take photos of the performance or any videos but I managed to get these shots of the stage and the auditorium. There was just about enough legroom for me bearing in mind I’m over 6 foot tall, the theatre was surprisingly easy to get around and refreshments were available, the queue to get to them though was immense. A wonderful way to spend our last night in New York City, I was rather dubious about the show due to its nature, I am going to say however it was a magnificent performance by all involved, Matte Martinez who played MJ, don’t be surprised if you are mistakenly believing the MJ is still alive due to the exquisite portrayal of his voice character and mannerisms 😎 Just a well done from me, thank you for a wonderful evening 💚"
